A colleague of mine rang to tell me that she had a client who was thrilled with the MyTobii! In fact, he was so excited about it he accidently hit his power chair controls and crashed into the table the MyTobii was mounted on!

The table tipped over, and resulted in the MyTobii P10 falling from a height of 4 feet and the screen landing on the edge of the user’s wheelchair footplate. Thankfully, the user was uninjured. And this provided us with some interesting feedback on what exactly happens when the P10 falls and the screen is smashed.

The answer??

It still works!!!!!!

It’s not every computer that you can drop from 4 feet and shatter the screen and still have operational. The MyTobii P10 is really a well-designed and well-made machine!

Understandably the touchscreen does not work, although you can still plug in a USB mouse and keyboard. But more importantly, the eye control features still work as normal!!

If you think about it, the desgin of the P10 is pretty amazing!! Having the camera and sensors built inside the device prevented them from being scratched or broken off. The casing of the P10 is pretty resilient and can withstand bangs and bumps (and crashes!) so the computer functions itself are secure.

It is also a credit to the camera, sensor design and software that the P10 can still calibrate just fine…despite having shards of the broken screen glittering and reflecting light in strange ways.

It is truly amazing!!!

But again….we do not recommend trying this at home!!
