idea to improve mytobiicommunity: exchange central

Hello,

I would like to propose a place on the mytobiicommunity where people can post and download interesting MyTobii Applications files in V.S. Communicator, Grid, Mind Express, etc... I think this could be a very precious inspiration source for many of us and it could improve our MyTobii communication-system a lot...

I am looking forward to hearing your reactions. Thank you!

Tobii Exchange sounds liike a great place... possibly using a built in virus scan algorythm to scan files as they go in or come out is needed!

chris147:

great idea but I have already created a topic for these ideas.

Andreis mom:

Yes, Chris you are right... I was also thinking to post my idea in the topic you created, but I didn't because I thought my topic is also very much related to category device and software... :-)

chris147:

actually there is a topic for that as well, but probably it is called games for the P10 or something like that.

Andreis mom:

It's true, there is also a topic for games... I hope Exchange will be a place for all kind of files, also games... but MyTobii is first a communication device. A good communication system on the device is in my opinion the most important for all users... and I think we can learn a lot from each other how to improve it.
Don't forget there are different users with different cognitive level and age...
Best wishes.

Erin Beneteau:

I think this is a terrific idea! We have discussed having an exchange site in the past. In fact, the Viking Software website does have a place where you can download VS Communicator 3 page sets, we just don't have something like that for VS Communicator 4 yet.

I will be sure to pass on your idea to our Project Managers and to our Marketing Department.

Kind regards,

Andreis mom:

Good news, thanks Erin! :-)

chris147:

well, as far as I know Andrei has my Grid set.

Are you thinking of users uploading their communication system sets to here or somewhere else to make them available for other users? But how many users would do this? How many of them are actually able to upload their sets to place them somewhere online? How many of them use VS Communicator or Grid? And again the question on this site appears as always: how many of the actual users know of this site, are active here?

Andreis mom:

Maybe in the beginning there will not be many users who would upload their communication systems ... You know, every beginning is difficult, but I think a few good examples could make to increase the number of people who want to exchange...

Thomas Nordén:

What should an exchange look like if you had your say? Would there be any particular topics, sets being one, and games another?

Andreis mom:

I think an Exchange should have different topics... as you said, sets being one and games another... then a particular topic with links to interesting (MyTobii-enabled) softwares (communication, education, games, paint, etc) can be also very useful.. I would also suggest that people could give short descriptions, comment or rate... and last but not least, each user and professional should be very well informed about Exchange. Make him/her to get excited to join here!

chris147:

all I can say is that the idea is good, but I have already come up with all these in the past. in fact, I posted some applications too.

I can already see an obsticle in the way. as far as I know tobiis in the UK come with the Grid 2, whereas everywhere else with the VS Communicator. also, very sad, but the international part of this community seems to be pretty quiet.

About tobii enabled software: I have contacted a few companies to make their products tobii enabled. they all came back saying that the developement package downloadable from the tobii website doesn`t contain enough information and that tobii asks for payment in order to give out more info for the process. I have even talked to Sensory software about adding more workspaces to their software and / or extend the existing ones. Apart from a few bug fixes nothing has happened. :(

chris147:

ThomasNorden:

Yes, we hope the the work with the subscription module is finshed! At least I got a notification of your comment! :-)

chris147:

well, I didn`t and in fact, the forum freezes firefox 3 on my PC.

anyway, I risk it and try to post my user blogs.

chris147:

update:

just received the notification about an hour late.

idea about the notifications:

they could be a bit more fancy, without the programming lines and codes with some nice graphics or at least with the mytobiicommunity icon

ThomasNorden:

Yes, the mails are being sent out every hour.
Great with all your feedback!
/Fabian

chris147:

Why only in every hour? What if the users could subscribe to certain threads to be notified about?

Plus why does the notification always arrive as andrei`s message?
