Text Messaging
Hi y'all. Brand new user here. I have barely plugged in my wife's p10 and see there is text messaging capabilities.
MyTobii tech assist tells me the only phone with which text messaging works is the Sony Ericson W5 80i.
Has anyone had any success using this phone? Any other phone?

Yes, the Sony Ericsson w580i is the only phone here in the US that we know is compatible with VS Communicator. There are other phones that work with VS Communicator in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. There may be other phones that work in the US as well, however at this point we will only verify phones that we have tried out ourselves and know work. In this case in the US it is the Sony Ericsson w580i with AT&T as the network provider.
The US office can provide you with written instructions on how to set it up if you're interested.
If you already have a cell phone that you want to try out...you can certainly try it! :)

That is interesting. I wonder if Tobii should think about making the ability to literally insert a SIM card into the Tobii its self and use it as the phone!
I know Prentke Romich'es Vanguard communication system has this capability with the addition of a special PCMCIA air card..
I don`t know much about the VS Communicator yet - more info to come - so I can only relate to the Grid 2 software from Sensory software.
In Grid 2 there are so called workspaces for different applications, such as mobile phones, word processing, web browsing, etc. I have mostly had Nokia phones and I use mine with the Grid 2 via Bluetooth. Of course, I had to buy a USB Bluetooth dongle for that but that is about it. This means that technically all Bluetooth capable mobiles should be ok to use with the Grid 2.

Can anybody give information about how well the P10 screen works outdoors?
Bad, the P10 does not behave well in direct sunlight as does any other laptop screen!
Can somebody explain me how a Grit does it working? Please. In Dutch we may nothing set-up on the Mytobii.
I think we solved the text messaging problem: I opened an AOL Instant Messaging (AIM) account which allows text messaging to a phone. Viking Communicator supports AIM so it is working and it was (is) free!
