Hello, I am a special education teacher and work with a student in second grade who has CP and developmental delay. We were just granted a 3 month trial of the MyTobii system but were only given Boardmaker with Speaking Dynamically Pro to use with it. We are at a loss for ideas to implement the system into curriculum. Due to the developmental delay we are finding that any activity requiring processing skills is extremely difficult. So far we have found success using dwell to click on high interest pictures and sight words, but we really want to start incorporating classroom materials. Are there any websites that you can recommend for ideas for activities? Does anyone have personal experience with using this is an elementary classroom setting that can offer up some advice? The student is verbal but weakness lies in the areas of comprehension, answering questions, and number sense. What kinds of things is this system generally used for other than giving voice to those who are non-verbal?
Thanks so much!
Hi, I have read your posting about sd pro materials. You can go to Mayer-Johnson's website and they have some add-on board sets that might be helpful. Here is a link to get you started. For off the computer activities you might want to check out the following website: http://www.speakingofspeech.com/. There is a materials exchange there and all the materials are based on Boardmaker and Speaking Dynamically Pro.

You may also want to look at AdaptedLearning.com. It is a website where users can store and share BoardMaker content.
You may also want to try a DynaVox system - it has the most content for any age including 1000s of pages of content for people with developmental delays. They are really the one way to go for such a user.
