The size of images we now take using our digital cameras is increasing every year it seems. Every photo my digital camera takes is 6mb in size. Images of this size on communication pages can adversely affect the speed of transition from page to page. There are a number of online applications which allow you to resize some images and there are also some fairly tecchy image processing programmes you can download.
I thought that I would share my personal favourite with you all. If you are using a P10 you will find it in the Microsoft Powertoys section under "image resizer"
If you are using a C-Series device with Windows vista, you can find an unofficial clone which seems to work absolutely fine here;
http://sourceforge.net/projects/phototoysclone/
The beauty of this programme is that you just need to right click on any image and choose the "resize picture" option. Choose Small, Medium or Large and you will then have a resized version of it in the same folder. You can also select multiple images in a folder, then right click and resize them all in one batch. I have looked at a number of alternatives and this seems to me to be the simplest and easiest tool to use for this purpose.
I hope you find this useful and that it makes your communication software run a lot quicker
If anyone can find a better image resizer, please share it with the group.
Best wishes
Hector
PS - my 6mb image is now 80kb!!!!
