Gathering Eye-Gaze Data

Hi,

We're looking to purchase a MyTobii system, mainly for use with voice output software. However, since we work in a multidisciplinary team, we are looking to use it for some vision assessments as well. As such, we need some kind of software that provides (preferably live) feedback on things like x/y position, track speed, blink data and pupil size. Does anyone know if something like this exists? We're working with children and the MyTobii Gaze Evaluator doesn't really providemuch in the way of stimulus! We need something that will allow us to show a picture and then analyse where the child is looking.

Thanks in advance everyone, so pleased this community is here!

Hello,

The MyTobii P10 isn't really desgined to be a vision assessment tool. The Gaze Evaluator is a tool specifically designed to help in two areas: adjusting for calibration/positioning to ensure the user is able to optimally access the P10, and for determining appropriate grid size and button placement for communication.

You can get a sense of where a user is looking and have that data recorded by using the fixation and smooth pursuit options on the Gaze Evaluator, however, I'm afraid that is the extent of data you can obtain from the P10 in this area. The P10 is designed to be a communication tool rather than a vision diagnostic tool. I would think that your local Optometrist or Opthomologist will be able to assist you in determining the specific vision questions you have and know of other tools designed specifically for the purposes you have in mind.

Kind regards,
Erin
