Refining eye control

The MyTobii P10 has a high success rate with initial users, however, sometimes a new eye control user needs practice for developing more precise eye control. A handy way for practicing is by using the MyTobii document browser. The document browser allows the user to access everything that has been stored in MyDocuments in Windows XP. If you have some photos stored in MyPictures, this is a terrific way to build up eye control skills.

Select MyDocuments

Scroll through to MyPictures

Select Open File

Choose a photo

Select Open File

I then encourage the user to keep their eyes in the middle of the picture window and then I provide them feedback by moving my finger over towards the edge of the screen to encourage them to slide their eyes to the right. You can do the same thing for scrolling left, down, and up.

Scrolling within photos gives immediate feedback for eye movment and helps prep the user for scrolling within the Internet Browser.

It can also be a fun way for kids to have an eye control treasure hunt…they need to use their eyes to find something in the photo!

Hmm, Tobii corp, you hear me speaking here, I hope so, you should build in some sort of fun training application that would be able to progressivly train users and even sense eye control errors and help them correct said errors.

Would be nice to have some sort of feedback in this way as you explained Alin. On the other hand, as you are using your tobii, and getting to know it even better, you get some sort of feedback of how well you are adopting to it.

Yes, some sort of feedback system that can be built into a training application and even run while you are in real world applications and be able to pop up and say something to help tune your eye control and also maybe even a statistical type of system to log how many hours you have on your tobii and maybe a time based errors system, for each error you have it knocks 5 seconds off your logged time on the machine. it would also make for fun competitions of who can successfully use their tobii the longest in the same day... yeah it sounds like a stupid idea... i dont know... what do you think

I like it.

Hi guys,

I have had a similiar request, although not for something quite so elaborate. I have passed it onto the programmers.

In the meantime, the Grid Evaluator is a good tool for praticing as well.

Kind regards,
Erin
