three year with Quad CP
Hi everyone, We are looking into this system for our son Luke . He is three and looks at everything he wants ! We are hopeful that we will hear his voice through the tobii . We would love to talk with others that are working with young children that are nonverbal and using this system . Thank you , Ronda
Hello Ronda,
I worked with a little guy earlier this year who was 2 1/2 years old when he tried the MyTobii P10. We started out by playing an easy game in VS Communicator 4, where he just had to look at buttons to make them disappear to reveal a picture. By starting with this format, he had a chance to get used to the idea of dwell time and that something physically changed when he looked at it. It also gave us an idea of what dwell time was most appropriate for him and which areas of the screen were easiest for him to access. From there we moved onto a basic communication page set during which he could ask for one of his favorite activities. It worked very well!
Best of luck to you and your son!

pro tobii user Hi Ronda, I`m Chris and I`m 22 yrs old.
I wanted to make a comment about Luke because it reminded us about when I was very young and always looked at everything I wanted. In fact I think I`ve always been a Champion eye Pointer.
I have had my tobii now for around 18 months and its great to be able to say what I really want and join in conversations.
I wish you and Luke all the very best and if I can help in any way please get in touch.
Kind regards Chris
Hi Ronda,
How is Luke? Has he tried MyTobii? How was going?
Best regards to you all!

Hi Ronda,
I came across this website: http://www.fampollemans.nl/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=82&...
It is in Dutch, but the boy is 4 years old. And it seams he is using the MyTobii very well. You could try and contact them?
Jikke
hi Ronda,
feel free to contact us, www.fampollemans.nl.
Gerben can talk, he is not using the mytobii for communication but merely to play (memory, electro). He has a robot which works on infrared (distance): he can let him walk/dance etc.
Most of the games are too complex, so I made a simpler memory of Pooh. I made one card with pictures which will play songs since the musicplayer is too complicated (even the simple one). We have Viking Communicator software in addition to the mytobii software itself.
Gerben can talk, but due to an implant. He was born completely deaf and used his eyes from the very first start to make things clear to us. We believe that this gave him an advantage to learn to cope with the MyTobii: for him it was already quit natural to explicitely look at the things he wanted to have or to let things happen.

Hi Peter, Thank you so much for the infrared robot idea! It's really great! Andrei has got one too (from Sinterklaas :)). It's a Meccano, Spykee micro. It can be controlled from Viking Software, Premium Edition. Greetings, Mihaela
Hello Mihaela,
We are so lucky to have Sinterklaas around!
Gerben got his train, but I have difficulties in reading the infrared into viking software (something is going wrong reading the signal from the Lego device).
The robot is working fine over here too, nice to have them play themselves!
Groeten!
Peter
